Description
Gulfstream IV Cockpit Systems Alive - by Dave Koch
This striking image captures the fully illuminated flight deck of a Gulfstream IV, shot from an expertly centered perspective that immerses the viewer in the heart of executive aviation. From the glowing avionics to the clean, symmetrical framing, every element in this photograph is designed to show not just the machine — but the complexity and elegance of flight.
Photographing cockpits like this is a serious technical challenge. The space is tight, lighting is uneven, and you’re often dealing with multiple color temperatures and reflective surfaces. On top of that, time on the ground is limited, and access is tightly controlled. Pulling off an image like this requires not only photography skill but professional-level aviation clearance, timing, and discipline.
For me, cockpit photography represents the pinnacle of technical photography — and a creative obsession. I don’t just shoot from outside the aircraft; I aim to take viewers inside the cockpit, inside the moment, and inside the soul of aviation.
This is one of my personal favorite shots from a Gulfstream IV, and it’s now part of my expanding aviation gallery on Fine Art America
